Salah satu Program Keahlian yang diselenggarakan di SMK N 39 Jakarta adalah Mekanik Otomotif. Program Keahlian ini sangat diminati oleh calon siswa yang akan melanjutkan pendidikan dari SLTP, ini terbukti dari jumlah peminat saat Penerimaan Siswa Baru setiap tahunnya. Rata - rata peminat lebih dari 1000 padahal daya tampung tiap angkatan sejumah 108 siswa ( 3 kelas ). hal inilah yang menjadikan Program kealhian Mekanik otomotif ini menjadi pilihan favorit hampir di semua sekolah kejuruan kelompok Teknologi Industri.

Untuk tahun ajaran 2009 - 2010SMK N 39 Jakarta memiliki daya tampung untuk Program Keahlian mekanik otomotif sebanyak 108 siswa (3 kelas pararel). Seleksi dilakukan menggunakan Sistem PSB Real time on-line via Internet yang sistemnya sudah di link dengan Dinas Pendidikan Provinsi DKI Jakarta.
